Unfortunately, I heard wrong and bawal pala coke can for the assignment, haha. So I ended up submitting the chicharon shot. I'm happy I didn't get blasted during the critique ;)
Our next homework is a portrait. Same rules apply. Additional rules for this are: must be a portrait of a family or friend, should be an environmental portrait (I hope I heard right this time ;p); and that other than the person, the pic should also contain a sidekick/secondary element.
Because I'll be away for a week, I'll miss next Saturday's class, and I'll be joining Tuesday's. So I basically only had Sunday to work on this. Luckily I have a very game brother ;)
I should've asked the definition of a 'portrait' during class, I'm not sure if there's a general rule for it, or maybe photography is more specific. During art history back in college, I remember very clearly Sir Je explaining that a portrait is any work that that the subject knows you're making... ie, all those paintings where the subject isn't looking atcha, those are still portraits. Wiki defines it differently, so I'm not sure if the first pic is considered.
I'm planning to submit the third one, just for the comedy factor of it, I call it Portrait of a King ;). I know my mistakes on that shot: all the eyesores/clutter, camera shake, and the lighting isn't any good, but hey, it's still a portrait in an environment ;) I'll see if I'm the mood to be blasted tomorrow, hehe, if I'm not, I'll probably go with the safer first or second pic.
Thanks to my oh so game model, who even did a change of outfits three times, and helped me look for every possible angle and wall in the house ;)
